Part 2 of the academic reading test will follow a similar pattern to the general training. You will read a large text (800- 1000 words), followed by questions 14 – 26.
The text will be taken from an academic journal, magazine or website and will be more difficult than the general texts.
Try practicing reading with your English teacher on Skype. In a Skype lesson you can ask the teacher to test you on your reading skills. Having a conversation about the text can be a good way to check your understanding and make sure you have comprehended correctly. Your English teacher will be able to explain which areas of the text you need to focus on and which areas to skim.
Tips!
1) Quickly read the text once to get the general meaning
2) Make some notes on the key meaning of the text
3) Skim the questions so you know what to look out for in the text
4) If you find you are stuck on a question – always do the easiest questions first
