Part 3 will be a follow on conversation from one of the topics from part 2. The question will require you to expand on the topic and to demonstrate a broader range of vocabulary.
Remember :
The examiner is not concerned about your opinions, only your ability to answer and construct a response. So focus on answering the question. If you do not have a personal opinion on the topic, just give a general opinion shared by people.
Good opening sentences :
That’s a tricky question, let me think for a second…
That is an interesting question, I would say…
Although it is difficult to say precisely, I would say…
What I would say in response to that is…
I think nobody knows for sure, but…
For agreement we can use:
I couldn’t agree with you more.
That’s so true.
That’s for sure.
That’s exactly how I feel.
No doubt about it.
I suppose so./I guess so.
You/they have a point there.
For disagreement we can use:
I don’t think so.
I’m afraid I disagree.
I totally disagree.
I beg to differ.
I’d say the exact opposite.
Not necessarily.
That’s not always true.
That’s not always the case.
In part 3 the examiner will want to know your general thoughts and opinions on a range of common topics. It is a good idea to practice talking about everyday topics, discussing, pros and cons, how problems can be solved, why things might change in the future. Good topics that often come up are, health, economy, education, environment.
